Recently, with the theme of “developing new quality production to promote the new journey of the industry”, the 2024 annual meeting of the iron oxide pigments branch of the China Coating Industry Association was held in Zhengzhou, Henan Province, and the meeting was discussed from the status quo of the industry, development direction and industrial policy and other dimensions, emphasizing that the industry should work with the downstream industry chain to promote the cultivation of new quality productivity. Embark on a new journey of sustainable development.

Liu Pujun, President of China Coating Industry Association, attended the meeting and delivered a speech. He pointed out that China is the world’s largest paint production and consumer, and the paint industry is the absolute main body of downstream consumption of iron oxide pigments. In 2023, the sales volume of domestic iron oxide pigments in the paint industry reached 116,000 tons, accounting for 43.9% of the total sales volume of iron oxide pigments, an increase of 20% over the previous year. It is expected that in 2024, China’s coating production will maintain a growth rate of about 6%, and the compound annual growth rate of global coating production in the next four years will remain at 3.1%, and the domestic and international coating market will become an important engine for the steady development of the iron oxide pigment market.

“Iron oxide pigments, as an important raw material upstream of coatings, provide a guarantee for the steady development of the coatings industry.” Henan paint industry Association president Xie Wei stressed.

Liu Bing, secretary general of iron oxide pigments Branch of China Coating Industry Association, introduced the basic situation of iron oxide pigments industry in China. In 2023, the total output of iron oxide pigments was 589,000 tons, 7.52% less than the previous year; Exports of 280,000 tons, 21.54% less than the previous year, of which exports to North America and Europe decreased especially. However, in the first half of 2024, the overall export situation of the industry has improved, and business confidence has gradually increased.

At the meeting, Ma Jun, chief engineer of China Coating Industry Association, and Wang Zhen, Minister of Industrial Development, respectively, shared information on the market, policies, regulations and standards under the title of “Enterprise innovation and development in the fierce competition environment” and “Interpretation of key policies and regulations in the field of iron oxide pigments in China’s coating industry 2024″.
